Kelley Hughes is a Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Divorce Analyst (CDFA®) whose mission is to support and advocate for women before, during, and after divorce.
Kelley provides the financial analysis her clients need to negotiate and navigate their divorce. She answers questions like: What’s the projected retirement income from these investment accounts?
Her own divorce led her to this specialization in divorce. While going through her own divorce process, she didn’t have advice from someone who had her entire financial picture in mind. There wasn’t anyone helping her think through each financial negotiation.
With three high school and college-aged children to think about, Kelley also learned from personal experience that the need for financial planning didn’t end when the divorce was finalized. As a result, she provides financial planning for cash flow and debt management, home purchase, retirement, and college savings for her clients post-divorce.
Kelley’s financial career follows years of caring for her three children and running her household. After her second child was born – and her son had a life-threatening birth defect – Kelley knew her No. 1 job was his care. She navigated the health insurance system to pay off $90K in medical bills, as well as to cover medical and therapy copays that equaled a mortgage payment—and she did it on one income.
Kelley lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, Peter, three children, and two bonus children. In her free time, she loves being outside – hiking, camping, gardening, and eating on her back deck. She’s also writing her first book – a workbook with the working title “Landing on Your Feet” to help people through the financial aspects of getting divorced.
